OpenAi concerned with its safety and prioritizing it has made its security committee independent. The reason for doing this is to to create a safety board that is independent in taking actions or decisions that will keep the safety of the company. For example the board can delay model launches over safety concerns.
the committee is led by its chairman Zico Kolter with other members which are Adam D’Angelo, Paul Nakasone, and Nicole Seligman. This set of people will be empowered by the company’s leadership on safety evaluations for major model releases. And also according to OpenAi this committee will be authorized to delay a model release until security issues are addressed.
The OpenAi Safety and Security Committee’s review also helped additional opportunities for industries to collaborate and share to improve the security of the AI’s industry.
