Panasonic Cycle Tech has introduced the refreshed 2026 model of its Xealt L3 electric assist bicycle, set to launch in Japan in June 2026. Priced at ¥238,000 (around $1,600 / €1,480), the new version comes with significant hardware improvements designed to enhance performance and usability.

Key Upgrades:
Through-Axles for Better Handling
The 2026 Xealt L3 now features through-axles on both the front and rear wheels, a design typically seen on premium road bikes. Compared to traditional quick-release skewers, through-axles provide greater torsional stiffness at the fork and rear dropout. This upgrade ensures more stable and predictable handling, especially important for e-bikes where motor torque adds extra stress to the rear end.
Hydraulic Disc Brakes & Enhanced Tires
The bike is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes on both ends, replacing the mechanical discs from the previous model. These brakes automatically adjust for pad wear and offer consistent stopping power, even in wet conditions—a practical benefit for daily riders. Additionally, Panasonic has updated the tires to 700×38C, optimizing them for smoother rolling efficiency and improved durability on paved roads.
