The upcoming OnePlus 16 is said to feature a new BOE X4 light emitting material, which is claimed to be more power efficient, has a longer lifespan of twice that of X3 material, and is also said to be thinner on all sides. OnePlus has officially announced that it retains a 185Hz refresh rate and a few gaming features.
The new leak has revealed that the upcoming OnePlus 16 will have a display side upgrade. Tipster Digital Chat Station says OnePlus and BOE have come up with a new X4 light-emission material for the device that consumes significantly less power than the previous X3 material that was used on the OnePlus 15, but can also last twice as long. Bezels are also reportedly shrinking on four sides, and the screen is maintaining its flat design rather than having rounded corners.

The leak also suggests that the new X4 panel will outperform Samsung’s M-series screens on almost all aspects, but doesn’t provide the actual resolution, brightness or final refresh rate. What’s been confirmed by OnePlus China president Li Jie is that the refresh rate of the screen remains unchanged at 185Hz, while the super-smooth and super-fast 3-core technology of e-sports, which is inherited from the OnePlus 15, has also been upgraded.
The OnePlus 16 has also recently gained SRRC clearance in China with the model number of PYB110. They’re convinced that this is the OnePlus 16 and certifications like this typically appear just before a phone is released. The OnePlus 16 is expected to feature a 6.78-inch display, similar to the OnePlus 15, a 9,000mAh battery, and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, LPDDR6 RAM, and 200MP main camera sensor, which is bigger than the OnePlus 15’s 50MP.
The 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is expected to be priced at around $815, while the 8GB RAM variant is expected to be offered as a more budget-friendly option. The OnePlus 16 is only teased for China, and a worldwide release is unlikely as OnePlus has already exited the North American and European markets.
