Lenovo has unveiled its new 14-inch Core Ultra 7 258V-powered laptop in China, that features 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 120Hz IPS display. It comes with 140V graphics, Arc technology and dual SSD slots, and has a base price of CNY 8,499 (~$1,260).
Lenovo has unveiled a new Lunar Lake based 120 Hz 14-inch thin and lightweight notebook featuring Intel’s new processor architecture. The company has already introduced a number of ThinkPad models this year, such as ThinkPad V14 Gen 7, which we covered earlier this month.
ThinkPad Air 14 utilizes a 14-inch IPS display that has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 and an aspect ratio of 16:10. The 120 Hz refresh rate should improve the smoothness and fluidity of on-screen movement and scrolling. It can be used for up to 400 nits and covers the entire sRGB color gamut. Lenovo also employs a matte anti-glare coating to reduce reflections, and the display is certified as a low blue light and flicker free display by the TÜV Rheinland.
The laptop weighs approximately 1kg and can be easily carried. The body is a silver metal and 12.9 mm thick at the thinnest point. Three side bezel-less design boasts a claimed screen-to-body ratio of over 90%. It also weighs in around the same as Lenovo’s lightweight ThinkPad X13 Gen 6 which we reviewed last year (curr. $1,433 at Amazon)
The laptop has Intel’s Core Ultra 7 258V processor with 8 cores and up to 4.8 GHz clock speed. It has incorporated Arc 140V graphics and the built-in NPU can reach up to 47 TOPS on AI applications. Intel also adopts the ‘Memory on Package’ design for this processor.
This version comes with 32 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory and a 512 GB SSD. Lenovo has added two M.2 slots to give users additional storage space later on. The laptop comes with up to 2 TB storage.
Laptop’s battery is 54.7 Wh. Lenovo claims it can achieve 80% charge in one hour. There’s even a dual-fan cooling system that facilitates heat control during heavier tasks.
Connectivity-wise, there are two USB-C, two USB-A, HDMI, and 3.5 mm audio ports. It also has Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth capabilities. Included with the operating system: Windows 11 and Microsoft Office. There’s also Lenovo’s Tianxi AI assistant, which primarily comes from users in China.
The ThinkPad Air 14 uses the same Core Ultra 7 258V chipset, Arc 140V graphics and also other hardware elements available on the globally offered ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition (curr. $2,429 on Amazon). It sits as a more budget-friendly choice than the higher-priced Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14, reviewed earlier this year.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Air 14 is priced at Rs. 2,25,000 and is available now.
Lenovo has started selling the ThinkPad Air 14 on JD.com in China for CNY 8,499 (around $1,260).
The ThinkPad Air series is available in China now and Lenovo hasn’t yet revealed plans to sell the ThinkPad Air 14 in other regions.
