Leica is said to reissue three cameras and one lens as a limited edition. From the Leica D-Lux 8 compact camera with a large sensor to the Leica M11-P – according to the latest rumors, Leica is planning a whole series of products that will be offered as a “Metal Grey” Limited Edition.
Leica almost regularly launches limited editions of various products. Leica is now working on three cameras and a lens in the “Streel Grey” finish and are each selling a limited amount of each.
These include the Leica M11-P, the manufacturer’s newest rangefinder camera, which is typically sold in black, silver or green “Safari” at $10,400 or more. The Leica APO-Summicron-M 50 mm f/2 ASPH. lens will be available in metallic gray color. The $9,945 fixed focal length lens was previously only available in silver or black.

Additionally, Leica’s two existing compact cameras will be available in “Steel Grey,” too: The Leica Q3, which comes with a full-frame sensor, is often sold for around $7,350, and the Leica D-Lux 8, which features a microFourThirds-format sensor, will be sold with a zoom lens that yields a 35 mm equivalent focal length of 24 – 75 mm.
When and at what price the new Leica “Steel Grey” Limited Edition will be available is still not known. Since the grey-painted Leica M2 of 1960, grey cameras have almost become a Leica tradition and the Leica M10-P, Leica M9 and Leica M-E have been available in different shades of grey.
