Honor’s new smartwatch is looking for users who want a screen with 3,000 nits of brightness with AMOLED technology, NFC and GPS, and at a relatively affordable price. The most important part is that the smartwatch will feature a gigantic battery to enable a long battery life of 35 days.

The Honor Watch 6 Plus doesn’t seem all that out of the ordinary at first glance; Honor has a round face with a narrow printed bezel, and the right side features a button and a digital crown. Waterproof to 5 ATM and stainless steel construction, the case is constructed of stainless steel, with an aluminum or stainless steel bezel, depending on the color.
The Honor Watch 6 Plus has a round AMOLED display with a diagonal of 1.46 inches, which achieves an extremely high brightness of 3,000 nits, meaning that the screen should remain legible even in the sun. The biggest, though, of the specs is the battery, which is 1,000 mAh in size, larger than most of its competitors. This will make a battery life of 35 days possible in the energy-saving mode, 17 days at normal usage and 42 hours at full load usage with the GPS module in use, Honor says.
The smartwatch has a heart rate and SpO2 sensor. The watch can also assess the risk of having high blood pressure but it cannot actually measure blood pressure, Honor said. The Honor Watch 6 Plus features 120 sport modes, AI Coach and AI running analysis. Speakers and microphones for phone calls via the connected smartphone, a maps app for navigation via GPS and an NFC chip for contactless payment complete the features.
Pricing and availability
The Honor Watch 6 Plus sells in China for CNY 1,199 yuan ($177) to CNY 1,599 ($235) based on the case variant and strap. Honor has yet to comment on the international launch. If that’s the case, it’s at least the older Honor Watch 5 that was sold abroad as well.
