GoPro is now selling two new action cameras. Available globally, the GoPro Mission 1 and GoPro Mission 1 Pro feature 1-inch camera sensors with Open Gate video support. Both action cameras maintain compatibility with Enduro 2 batteries, too.
GoPro has surprised us once again. In summary, the company unveiled new action cameras last week after saying that it would not release any action cameras until at least April 18 at the National Association of Broadcasters Show 2026 (NAB Show 2026).
Then, it asserted that pre-orders of Mission 1 series would start May 21. As NAB Show 2026 is already in full swing, GoPro has chosen to launch the Mission 1 Pro and Mission 1 worldwide. Competing with current action cameras such as the Osmo Action 6 (currently priced at 426 on Amazon), the Mission 1 and Mission 1 Pro are aiming to outdo the competition by offering a 1-inch camera sensor, which can record 8K/60 FPS video as well as 50 MP in its native format.

The Mission 1 and Mission 1 Pro are also the first GoPro action cameras to be powered by its new GP3 processor, and the first to have its 4:3 Open Gate video capture. It is important to note that the Mission 1 Pro is able to support up to 8K and 30 FPS when in Open Gate mode, but GoPro restricts the Mission 1 to 4K and 120 FPS.
In the US, the Mission begins at $599, and in the Euro zone, at 599, but in the UK it begins at 529. In comparison, the Mission 1 Pro costs up to 699, 699 and 599 in the US, Europe and UK, respectively. The two cameras can be bought together with a 1-year GoPro Premium subscription at no additional cost, as well. Pre-orders are slated to ship ‘on or before’ May 28.
