Apparently, Apple is adding a host of new features and minor tweaks to watchOS 27, and is even considering a sensor upgrade in the process, as Bloomberg reported recently, citing an Apple Watch Ultra 4 featuring a brand new design and new sensors.

There are no significant design changes in the Apple Watch Series 11 ($299 on Amazon) or the Apple Watch Ultra 3.Both models, the Apple Watch Series 11 ($299 on Amazon) and the Apple Watch Ultra 3, have only received minor hardware upgrades and no major design changes. The Apple Watch Series 12, which is expected to be officially launched in September, will again only receive minor hardware changes. But there have been recent rumors about a completely new design and upgraded sensors for Apple Watch Ultra 4.
In fact, according to the new report from Bloomberg, these sensor enhancements may not necessitate new hardware, but rather may be available with watchOS 27, which is expected to support older Apple Watches. No other details of the exact improvements in heart rate measurement have been released in the report, but a picture is slowly forming in users’ minds what new features they can look forward to from their Apple Watch when it receives its next major operating system update, watchOS 27. One of the features being added with the update is that watch faces will now be modular, similar to “Modular Ultra”, which will be offered on the smaller Apple Watch as well.

It provides an additional choice of watch face for those who like a watch with lots of complications. The new watchOS 27 is scheduled to focus on performance and stability, as well as offering the Apple Watch Ultra 3 access to Apple Maps – and photos, instead of just emergency calls and text messages, as previously. Last but not least, new AI features are anticipated, and it remains to be seen if the new Siri chatbot app will also be present on Apple’s smartwatch, or if that will be used for the iPhone and iPad in the meantime.
