Apple is reportedly preparing a major product launch event for Tuesday, October 27, followed by an all-day hands-on event for members of the press on October 28. Journalists are already being asked to attend the product experience, Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman told the BBC.
The upcoming event is expected to focus heavily on new Mac devices, particularly the next-generation MacBook Pro.
The high-end MacBook Pro offerings are speculated to include Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max chips and a new chassis design that’s thinner and lighter than the existing models. The laptop might also have the first OLED display and touchscreen support for MacBook Pro.
It’s possible Apple could also introduce a lower-cost version of the MacBook Pro with the M6 chip and the same design. At the event, an updated iMac with M6 processor might also be unveiled.
In addition to the Mac lineup, Apple is reportedly preparing a new iPad mini with an OLED display. The downside to that, though, is that the refresh rate of the compact tablet will still be 60 Hz, compared to higher refresh rates available on some other devices out there.
Apple has not officially confirmed the rumored event details or product lineup. Assuming the reports are true, the introduction of the launch may bring some major changes to the MacBook Pro lineup and may also be a first for the iPad mini series with the OLED tech.
