4 Ways To Disable Wi-Fi on Windows 11

Your Windows 11 computer must have a Wi-Fi device, but there are instances when you may need to disable it for a variety of reasons. There are possibly four distinct methods we identified that will help you if you want to disable Wi-Fi on Windows 11. Look at this.

1) Using The Wi-Fi Switch In The System Tray

Using the built-in Wi-Fi switch is the simplest way to turn off Wi-Fi on Windows 11. To disable or enable Wi-Fi on your Windows device, click the network icon (or globe) in the system tray and then click the Wi-Fi button.

2) Using The Wi-Fi Settings

You may disable Wi-Fi on Windows 11 using the Wi-Fi settings in addition to the Wi-Fi button shortcut; simply follow these simple instructions.

  • Step 1: Open Settings on your Windows 11 PC by using the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + I.
  • Step 2: Select Network & internet on the left and click the Wi-Fi slider switch on the right.

To access Wi-Fi settings, you may also right-click on the network icon in the system tray and select Network and Internet settings. Using the slider from here, you can turn off Wi-Fi on Windows 11.

Please be aware that utilizing the Network Flyout to disable WiFi will only remove the device from the network. Using the two techniques listed below, Wi-Fi can be entirely turned off.

3) Using Network Adapters

Disabling the Wi-Fi adaptor on Windows 11 is another method for entirely turning off Wi-Fi. You won’t be able to use the switch anymore; to resume using the Wi-Fi, you must re-enable the adapter.

  • Step 1: Open Settings on your Windows 11 PC by using the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + I.
  • Step 2: Select Network & internet on the left and click Advanced network settings on the right.
  • Step 3: Here, you will see network adapters available on your computer, click on the Disable button next to the Wi-Fi adapter.

Note:  Once the Wi-Fi adapter has been turned off, the Wi-Fi switch won’t be accessible. Do not use this technique to disable the Wi-Fi adapter if all you want to do is turn off Wi-Fi on Windows 11 using the switch in the tray.

4) Using Device Manager

Using Windows 11’s Device Manager to turn off Wi-Fi is the last thing you want to do. You won’t be able to turn on or off Wi-Fi using this approach since the Wi-Fi device has been deactivated in the Device Manager.

  • Step 1: Launch the Device Manager using the Windows Power Menu, press the Windows Key + X to open the Power Menu, and choose Device Manager from the list.
  • Step 2: Double-click on Network adapters to open the devices list and find your Wi-Fi adapter. In our case, it’s Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9560 160MHz.
  • Step 3: Right-click on the Wi-Fi adapter and click on Disable.

Your Windows 11 computer’s Wi-Fi is now fully disabled. Don’t disable Wi-Fi in the Device Manager if all you want to do is turn off the switch in the tray. If you did, just re-enable it by following the instructions above.
