Xiaomi has organized a relatively large launch event in China and one of the newly introduced launches is the Redmi K100. Not as compact as the Pro, but it has performance focused specs.
In particular, this new entry-level device comes with a 2024 Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the flagship SoC of the year. While it’s not as powerful as the newly launched Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, it can still smoothly run most AAA Android games. With Turnip driver support, the SoC holds its ground well in PC game emulation as well.
The company has paired the SoC with the Redmi D2 chipset, which promises to bring gaming enhancements. The front features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display screen, which is a touch smaller than the Redmi K100 Pro Max but bigger than the Pro model. With a 165Hz refresh rate, it’s on par with the screens found in phones such as the iQOO 16, which are more expensive.

According to Xiaomi, the resolution of this display is 2,772×1,280 and the peak brightness rating is 3,500 nits. The Redmi K100 is also rumored to have several comfort features on its display, such as 1-nit brightness mode and full DC dimmer.
One of the best features of the phone is its 10,000mAh battery, which is bigger than the 6,000mAh battery in the OnePlus 16, iQOO 16 and RedMagic 12 Pro. It supports 100W fast charging, and with the 27W reverse charging feature, other devices can be charged using the phone (Baseus retractable 100W USB-C cable curr. $12.99 on Amazon).
A stereo audio system with Sound by Bose enhancements, a dual rear camera system with a 50MP camera sensor, and a cool overall design are other features of interest. But the Redmi K100 comes in 3 colours and the entry-level variant is equipped with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It has a launch price of CNY 2,999, around $450.

As far as this top end configuration is concerned, it has 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The launch price of this config is CNY 3,899 ($585 USD). Xiaomi has not provided any information regarding the launch in other countries, but it is believed that the Redmi K100 will be marketed in other countries as “Poco F9”.
