A recent leak has reignited speculation that has been circulating for weeks: Xiaomi’s 18 Pro series might mark the brand’s return to the European market, leveraging its exclusive Leica camera upgrades to become a global bestseller.

For years, Xiaomi has maintained a nearly six-month gap between the release of its Chinese models and their global counterparts. Currently, the lineup offers limited options between the compact entry-level Leica flagship and the global Xiaomi 17 Ultra, aside from the newer Xiaomi 17T series. While this staggered approach has been the norm, there’s growing speculation that Xiaomi may shift gears in 2026, as previously discussed (in German).
Hints of this strategic shift have emerged through a tweet by Kartikey Singh, a reliable source for Xiaomi-related predictions. Singh’s cryptic reference to “X” is widely interpreted as a nod to a European launch for the Xiaomi 18 Pro series. A synchronized international debut of the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max would be a logical move, giving Xiaomi a competitive edge in the global market.
Enhanced Features: Secondary Display and LOFIC Camera
One standout feature of the Xiaomi 18 Pro series is its secondary display, integrated into the camera module. This innovation remains unique in the market, with no competitors attempting to replicate it. Leaks suggest that Xiaomi plans to enhance this display, making it brighter, larger, and surrounded by thinner bezels—changes likely to boost its appeal outside China.
The Leica cameras are also set to receive significant upgrades. While the sensor manufacturers remain unchanged—Omnivision for the standard Xiaomi 18 and SmartSens for the Pro models—a new LOFIC generation is expected to deliver improved dynamic range. Additionally, the entire Xiaomi 18 series may feature a revamped ultra-wide-angle camera, replacing the outdated ISOCELL JN5 sensor.
