The Sony ELF-MN1 is a 6-inch glasses-free 3D LCD display for viewing media, avatars, and other 3D content from a smartphone or laptop. The display is equipped with eye-tracking technology to ensure that the viewer clearly sees its 1,080×2,160 3D image.
Sony has announced the 6-inch ELF-MN1 Spatial Reality Display, a 3D display that can be used with smartphones and computers to create anime avatars and “spatial” content without glasses. Projected 1,080 × 2,160-pixel 3D image is kept in view through eye-tracking technology.
The ELF-MN1 display uses a 3,840 x 2,160-pixel, 60 Hz LCD panel with a contrast ratio of 1,350:1, a maximum brightness of 470 nits, and a 403 ppi pixel density. By looking at an IR sensor, a real-time video generation technology creates a stereoscopic image which can be viewed at an angle up to 25° from 30 cm to 80 cm (11.8 in. to 31.5 in.) away. The 3D technology can only produce a “viewable” image for one user, while the other users will only see a distorted image. Speakers are single-wattatt stereo speakers.
3D media or avatars, like HoloModel Digital figures from Gugenka are supported. Those who are unable to view the 3D avatar on display owing to eye strain or cost can consider the HoloModelLink 2D display.
The display needs the latest handsets equipped with a fast processor (Sony Xperia 1 V/5 V or newer, Pixel 10/11, Galaxy S23 or newer, iPhone 15 or newer) and a USB-C port with DP Alt Mode, or a mid-range desktop with similar specs (6C/12 T Intel Core i5 or better, Nvidia RTX 2070 2070 Super or better, 16+GB RAM, and 4K 60P USB-C support).
The overall size of the assembled display is 110.7 x 154.6 x 111.8 mm (4.36 x 6.09 x 4.40 in.) and it weighs 0.35 kg (0.77 lbs.).
The Sony ELF-MN1 will be available for sale in Japan for approximately 54,000 yen (~$340) starting December 11, 2026. The unit will be on display in Japan at the Sony Store in Ginza (Tokyo) and Nagoya from November 20, 2026.
