Shuttle has introduced a new SFF PC with support for up to 24-core Intel CPUs. Dubbed the XPC Cube SB860R8, the desktop can also accommodate a whopping 192 GB of RAM and features a ton of expansion and I/O options.

Shuttle has unveiled a new small-footprint PC that supports the Intel’s Arrow Lake-S desktops. The XPC Cube SB860R8 is priced at a mere 13 liters, and is designed to do all the things of a high-end workstation without consuming a lot of space.
Fabulous SFF PC with plenty of performance and connectivity (XPC Cube)

The XPC Cube SB860R8 SFF PC supports desktop-class processors as mentioned above, unlike mini PCs, which are plagued with a number of space and thermal restrictions. Specifically, it’s the LGA1851 socket that accommodates high-end Intel ARL-S CPUs, like the Core Ultra 9 285K (~$564 on Amazon).
Like all Shuttle’s other small desktop systems we’ve reviewed, there is no overclocking support. In other words, the CPUs in the series Arrow Lake-S with the ‘K’ designation will not be able to ‘run their legs’ to full capacity in the system.
Memory requirements are taken care of by a total of four 288-pin UDIMM slots. This allows support for up to a whopping 192 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM.
The XPC Cube SFF PC features 1x PCIe x16 Gen 5 and 1x PCIe x4 Gen 4 slot, thanks to the generous amount of internal space available. Discrete GPUs can be installed – but only slots and up to a max length of 280 mm.

The I/O it offers is great, and that’s what you’d expect from an SFF PC designed for use in a hobby and/or production setting. The detailed list can be found below.
- Four USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, dual USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Type-A, Type-C)
- Four USB 2.0 Type-A
- HDMI 2.1, HDMI 2.0b, dual DisplayPort 1.4b
- Dual 2.5G Ethernet
- RS232 header (internal)
A plethora of storage options are also present on board the XPC Cube. Four 3.5″ SATA drive bays are in place along with dual M.2 2280 SSD bays. There is also one M.2 2230 slot for wireless networking.
