The Nikon Z70, a particularly powerful mirrorless camera, is expected to be unveiled within the next two weeks, combining a 41-megapixel sensor with 8K video, particularly fast autofocus and a high-resolution viewfinder, according to early rumors.
According to the latest information from Nikon Rumors, Nikon could soon fill a major gap in the Z system, as the company is reportedly set to unveil the Nikon Z70 within the next two weeks, a professional mirrorless camera that combines a 41-megapixel APS-C sensor with particularly high speed.
Though its sensor is smaller, and it’s expected to cost approximately the same as the Nikon Z6 III (about $2,000), this Nikon Z70 is said to deliver photo and video resolution that’s higher and very high speeds. Thanks to the Nikon Expeed 7 processor, the Nikon Z70 is said to be able to capture up to 120 photos per second with continuous autofocus. They are reportedly capable of capturing video in 8K resolution at 60 fps and support for ProRes RAW and selected RED features will be present. A dedicated video button is said to turn the Nikon Z70 into a video camera at the touch of a button, without having to navigate menus.
Nikon is reportedly using the same viewfinder as in the Nikon Z6 III, namely a viewfinder based on a 0.5-inch OLED panel with 5.76 million dots and 0.8x magnification. The Nikon Z70 will likely fill a similar niche in the market as the venerable Nikon D500 DSLR would, for hobbyists and semi-professional photographers looking for a strong camera capable of handling sports or wildlife photography but not satisfied with the price and weight of the Nikon Z9.
