Boox teases Note X6 ePaper notebook ahead of May 27 launch

Boox has announced another E Ink device will launch this May. The new product will arrive as the Note X6, and it will have a monochrome display and stylus support.

Boox has announced another E Ink device will launch this May. The new offering will come under the Note X6 name, and the device will sport a monochrome screen and a stylus.

After a Poke 7 series was launched, Boox has announced that it has another gadget on the horizon for later this month. This will be a new device, unlike the Poke 7 and Poke 7 Pro that are ereaders, will be part of the Note line of Android-powered note-taking E Ink tablets.

The new device will hit the market on May 27th, according to a post on Weibo. It will be coming with a successor to the Note X5 from July 2025. Also included in the post is an image that depicts the Note X6 will feature a monochrome display and stylus support. No details on the technical details, but Boox claims the Note X6 will be equipped with a strong SoC.

We think the Boox Note X6 will be facing competition from other devices like the reMarkable Paper Pure and the Amazon Kindle Scribe (front lightless), but unlike the latter, it should be equipped with a front light after all, as the previous generation was.

The Boox Note X5’s features included a 10.3-inch Carta 1300 display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, and a Qualcomm processor. The Note X5 also features a stylus, albeit with an EMR pen, dual-band Wi-Fi, a speaker, a microphone and a 3,700mAh battery.

The Note X5 also had a smaller version known as the Note X5 Mini. It replaces the sibling’s 10.3-inch display with a smaller 7.8-inch display and a smaller 2300mAh battery. But, it’s still equipped with Qualcomm processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with stylus support. As of now, it is not known if the Note X6 Mini has been reported.

It’s unclear if the Boox Note X6 will be available worldwide. It hasn’t been that long since it released the Go 10.3 Gen II series, although they are not part of its note series, they do have stylus support and note taking features. The Go 10.3 Gen II series is available in two variants — a Lumi version (read our review) that has dual-tone front light, and a regular version that lacks front light. Both can be found on Amazon for $449.99 and $419.99 for each.
