Asus has already begun to sell its original AMD Strix Halo gaming laptop in the US. The new laptop is also powered by a 165 Hz display and has a 73 Wh battery that can be charged through USB Type-C. Regrettably, Asus has not chosen to also have a 64 GB RAM version in the US, which would have enabled the TUF Gaming A14 FA401EA to dedicate up to 48 GB of VRAM to its Radeon 8060S iGPU.
Asus has begun selling its first AMD Strix Halo-powered gaming laptop in the US without much noise. In short, the TUFE Gaming A14 FA401EA has already been introduced into various markets such as China, Europe and Japan. Firstly, Asus proposed that the 14-inch laptop would be sold in the US at 1,799.
Nevertheless, some retailers at the time priced the same SKU at $2,199 last month. At this point, Best Buy has made sales in the US under the latter price with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB SSD instead of the previous price. It appears that Amazon had the same laptop in the US at the beginning of March, as well. The laptop is shown as temporarily out of stock at the moment, however.
It is unfortunate that the US still lacks the 64 GB RAM variant as Asus provides in other markets. Therefore, it is impossible to allocate more than 16 GB VRAM to the Radeon 8060S iGPU of the laptop without reducing the amount of RAM. Consequently, ROG Flow Z13 (currently available at Amazon at 2,799 dollars) can be a superior choice to Strix Halo enthusiasts who require over 32 GB RAM.
Nevertheless, the FA401EA is an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 392 APU with a 165 Hz display with 2.5K and 400-nit output. Moreover, the 14-inch laptop has a 73 Wh battery, 100 W charging using USB Type-C and a 1.7 mm key travel keyboard. Details of our launch article can be found there.
