8849 has launched the 8849 Tank 5 flagship smartphone with a built-in 2K DLP projector. The smartphone features a rugged design, a MediaTek Dimensity 9400e processor, a 3K AMOLED display, and a massive 17,600 mAh battery. It’s now available for purchase via 8849’s official website.
Chinese rugged smartphone maker 8849 has introduced its latest device, the Tank 5, to the global market. The standout feature of this smartphone is its built-in 2K DLP projector, which offers laser-based auto-focus, automatic keystone correction, 220 lumens of brightness, and a resolution of 2048 x 1080 pixels.
For performance, 8849 has equipped the Tank 5 with a flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9400e processor, paired with 18 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. Storage can be expanded up to 2 TB via a microSD card. The phone runs Android 16 out of the box, and the company promises 5 years of security updates, though details about major OS updates remain unclear.
In addition to the projector, the 8849 Tank 5 doubles as a laser rangefinder, thanks to its 4-meter laser ranging module. Powering the device is a massive 17,600 mAh battery, which supports 120 W wired charging and 25 W reverse wired charging.
