The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will come with a Leica-enhanced camera setup, and the company is taking this partnership to the next step by introducing a special edition for the camera flagship. This special Leica edition will come with a physical zoom ring.

Xiaomi is about to introduce a new flagship phone camera the Xiaomi 17 Ultima. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and will be equipped with Leica enhanced camera setup, so the smartphone is photography-oriented. To the more camera-centric people, the company has recently presented a Leica special edition.
This special Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica edition will also include what the company refers to as Master Zoom Ring in comparison with the regular one. As the name reveals, it is a literal rotary ring and the installation is entirely encircling the entire camera module.
The company has provided a preview of the rotary ring in a new video and as the video depicts, it provides an experience that is rather close to that of traditional cameras. Although Xiaomi had not officially confirmed it, according to Digital Chat Station, a reputable leaker, the physical ring is not an ornamental part. It can instead provide real zoom capability.
Naturally, the ring on the zoom is not the only noteworthy modification of the special Xiaomi 17 Ultra version. It has a 3D Leica engraving that is almost at the camera module, giving this version a greater aesthetic value.
The company has already described the 200 MP periscope telephoto of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and based on the provided samples, the sensor appears to be able to provide the detailed closest and zoom shots in portraits. The phone may already be officially confirmed with more details prior to the imminent Chinese launch, scheduled on December 25, 2025.
