Tecno released two new foldable devices on Friday September 13th: Phantom V Fold2 and Phantom V Flip2. Both phones come with the maker’s own AI Suite, and they are two first devices that have the features right from the start.
Tecno Phantom V Fold2
The fold2 is an improvement from the previous fold but retains some elements including the Dimensity 9000+ chip, the 7. 8.5-inch center screen and the 6. 42 inches topmost display screen.
The big change is the body, which is now under 6. 1 mm in thickness when unfolded and less than or equal to 12 mm when folded. It also got significantly lighter – it is now 249 grams, compared to nearly 300 gr, which should be attributed to Intel Atom inside and the larger battery.
The Phantom V Fold2 has an Ella AI assistant which is powered by Google Gemini. Together with Smart Q&A (which is in fact a tool for real-time answers), AI Summary, useful for working with PDFs and web pages, AI Translation, which can translate in calls, AI Writing that can summarize texts, rewrite, proofread and even write creatively.
There are some other functions that will use it and they are AI Artboard for transforming scratches into drawings and AI Wallpaper that creates the unique wallpaper for users starting from the simple text. It employs AI to increase the capabilities of its Universal Tone Technology that helps in visual portrayal of tonal variety in skin color.
Camera island on Phantom V Fold2 has been altered completely. It is a tri camera module and three shots on the back are 50 MP: standard wide, ultra-wide-angle lens, and the third is a portrait lens. Secondly there are two punch hole 32 MP selfie cameras – the first one is at the cover screen and the second one is at the inner screen.
The phone is advertised with 24 GB RAM, but in reality, it has 12 GB RAM physical and 12 GB RAM extended, while storage is 512 GB. The battery inside this phone has a 5,750 mAh capacity and supports 70W wired and 15W wireless charging.
Tecno priced the Phantom V Fold2 at just $1,099, which is much lower than competitors’ prices. It will go on sale on September 23 in Africa, followed by launches in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America later in September and October.

Tecno Phantom V Flip2
According to the new Tecno Flip phone, it has a big cover screen which has a resolution of 1,056 x 1,056 unlike the small circle at the first Tecno Phantom V Flip.
Here, we have a 3. 64” Square panel with a significant part of the cover and going around the cameras, similar to what Motorola did with the Razr and Xiaomi with Mix Flip The Inner panel is 6.9inch LTPO AMOLED with a resolution of Full HD+.
Tecno continued to say that the cover screen will support over 2000 apps to make life easy for users who often don’t even open up the main screen & the Cover Screen is also customizable with Interactive Pets that can be petted and they can play games, music.
It doesn’t mimic a card-based interface, but it does bring a so-called Desktop Application Center, the advantages of which are clear, especially when powering up multiple apps, without the characteristic inefficiency of ‘sliding’. The display also comes with a full keyboard display for dialing as well as typing.
In terms of weight and dimensions, the Flip has not changed: it is still a sub-200 gr foldable with size that is about 7. 6mm thin when expanded, and 16 mm thin when collapsing.
We have already talked about the dual cameras placed on the back of the phone, both of which are 50 MP each. The ultra-wide-angle shooter supports 150-degree FoV, which is way wider than the standard UW cams in today’s smartphones. Tecno also embedded a one selfie camera that came with a 32 MP lens and autofocus on the inner screen.
As with the Phantom V Flip2, all the AI features available for the Phantom V Fold have been retained – AI Translation, AI Writing, the voice assistant Ella and others.
The phone comes with a 4,720 mAh battery, which is one of the biggest cells among flip foldables. Tecno claims the 70W charging provides 50% charge in 15 minutes and a full battery in 43 minutes.
The Tecno Phantom V Flip2 costs $699 and has 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. Like the Fold, it will arrive in Africa on September 23 and then expand to other key regions for Tecno – Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
