Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of Galaxy Z TriFold, further expanding Samsung’s leadership in new form factors for the mobile AI era
After numerous leaks and a prototype release, Samsung made a formal announcement that it now had a tri-fold smartphone. The Galaxy Z TriFold is the best product to demonstrate Samsung mastery of foldables, which now has over 16 devices in the foldable category, and it has the biggest screen of all Galaxy foldables and some smart software features and flagship-quality specifications.
The most important changes on the Z TriFold are that they have two titanium hinges that enable the main folds screen to be covered fully in times when it is not in use. In contrast to the Mate XT and Mate XTs produced by Huawei, Z TriFold has the cover screen located on the back side with the two sides of the folding screen able to fold in the middle.
Regarding the folding screen, it has a dummetingly huge size of 10 inches diagonally with 2,160 x 1,584px resolution, an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. It has the 10MP selfie camera in a small punch hole cutout on the right hand side and comes pre-installed with the protective film like the other members of the Z series foldables.
Display
Its cover display is 6.5-inch resolution (2,520 x 1,080 pixels), adaptive refresh rate, 1120Hz and aspect ratio 21:9. It is capable of delivering up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness, has Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection and there is also a 10MP selfie cam.
OneUI 8 which is based on Android 16 takes care of the software side and the large canvas provides a few ingenious multitasking possibilities. There is a portrait mode that lets you run three full-sized applications at the same time. The Samsung galaxy Z TriFold is the first phone to have standalone Samsung DeX that introduces a desktop experience of the Quick Settings panel. The Z TriFold can be used as a portable workstation, making use of a mouse and a keyboard.
Z TriFold is so smooth with Advanced Armor Aluminum frame and it is only 3.9mm in the thinnest part. When folded, it has a weight of 309 grams and is 159.2 x 75 x 12.9 mm. Similar to Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, Z TriFold is IP48 dust and waterfront protection.
Every detail of Galaxy Z TriFold is designed for excellence — and with Galaxy AI, those capabilities elevate the device by making every feature more intuitive on a large screen. Features like Photo Assist, including Generative Edit and Sketch to Image, adapt to Galaxy AI flexibly with impressive scale, enabling users to capture and create with Samsung’s most versatile creative platform. Users can also easily compare before and after edits side by side. Browsing Assist can simplify how Samsung Internet is used as it can provide instant summaries or translations as needed.
The TriFold adopts the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite as Galaxy, as the Z Fold7, which is now 1 generation behind the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. It comes with 16 GB RAM and 512GB or 1TB storage.
The rear will have the triple camera system of the Z Fold7, with a 200 MP shooter (ISOCCEL HP2), a 10MP 3x telephoto, and a 12MP ultra wide.
Samsung also installed a 5, 600 mAh three-cell battery divides onto both rear sections of the three panels of the device. It receives 45W and 15W wired and wireless charging respectively.
Availability & Offers
Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to be available for purchase in Korea on Dec. 12, 2025, followed by other markets including China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE and the U.S. At launch, Galaxy Z TriFold will be offered at select retail stores in respective launch countries for hands-on discovery of this exciting new device and in-store assistance.
