OpenAI Introduced a new professor to its Board of directors by name Zico Kolter.
Zico Kolter a professor and director of the machine learning department at Carnegie Mellon is a specialist in researching on AI safety which makes him invaluable and a worthy addition to the board of OpenAI directors.
The safety of AI at the company is an issue that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Kolter’s appointment came after some prominent OpenAI executives and employees focused on safety for some few months.
Kolter will also be part of the OpenAI boards Safety and Security Commission alongside some directors like Bret Taylor, Adam D’Angelo, Paul Nakasone, Nicole Seligman, CEO Sam Altman and OpenAI technical experts. This committee will be responsible for safety/precautions making decisions concerning OpenAI projects.
Zico Kolter completed his PhD in Computer Science at Stanford University in 2010, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT from 2010 to 2012. He was a former Chief Data Scientists at C3.ai.
