Nothing has finally introduced native call recording for select models through its Essential Space app, but only users in a few countries can try it for now. The update is automatic and lets you record by long-pressing the Essential Key or tapping a simple prompt during a call. For now, the feature is limited to the Nothing Phone (3), Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro.

Nothing has begun rolling out a new call recording feature on its phones, the only difference is that it is only a few models and regions that receive it currently. This is updated via Essential Space, which is an in-house service of the company and it automatically ensures that as far as call recording is concerned an update is done automatically. It means that users do not have to download or install anything to make the feature visible, and an implementation of it is a part of a server-side rollout by Nothing itself.
Upon release, you will be able to make a voice recording by long-pressing the Essential Key or by the call notification bar tapping the Start recording option. Once the call has been made, the recording will be saved in Essential Space, where it can be played on demand. There is no mention that this update is supported on the Nothing Phone (3), Phone (3a), and Phone (3a) Pro, though the availability is currently only available to users in India, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the UK. The company has also established that it intends to increase support to additional markets in the future, but there are not yet specific dates that have been disclosed.
Surprisingly, this is not the first occasion on which recording tools have been observed on the devices of the Nothing users. The company secretly introduced a recorder widget earlier last year, which was capable of recording a conversation without the normal notification sound, in other words, recording could be done quietly. Nevertheless, that widget was removed in some workstations after updates to the apps left users with no idea on its position. At this point, as an official rollout with Essential Space, Nothing appears to be harmonizing the way call recording is implemented on its devices, albeit on a very limited scale.
