Huawei has officially unveiled the Watch GT Runner 2, a smartwatch designed specifically for serious runners rather than general users. The device emphasizes ultra-precise positioning, Intelligent Marathon Mode, advanced health tracking, and compatibility with both Android and iOS platforms.
This global launch aligns with earlier reports from Notebookcheck, which highlighted key features such as ECG monitoring, HRV tracking, a titanium case, AirDry straps, and a battery life of up to 14 days under light usage. Huawei’s product page confirms these details, listing ECG, HRV, an aerospace-grade titanium case, AirDry woven straps, and NFC support.
The Watch GT Runner 2 is priced at £349 in the UK (approximately $466) and around $420 in Russia, according to TehnoObzor. However, like other recent Huawei products, it is unlikely to be officially available in the US.
A Smartwatch Built for Runners

Huawei has positioned the Watch GT Runner 2 as a specialized device for runners, rather than a general wellness wearable. The official product page highlights its “industry-leading 3D GPS floating antenna,” which offers highly accurate tracking for distance, pace, and routes. The Intelligent Marathon Mode provides smart training plans and event guidance, developed in collaboration with the DSM-Firmenich Running Team and calibrated using insights from elite athletes.
The watch goes beyond basic metrics like pace and heart rate. It includes features such as:
- Event Assistant for tracking major marathons.
- Customized scientific training plans tailored to individual needs.
- Lactate-threshold tracking to monitor endurance.
- Running power and performance prediction for better race planning.
- On-wrist pacing view to track progress against goals.
- Personalized fueling reminders and post-run analysis to optimize race preparation and recovery.
Premium Hardware Enhancements
The Watch GT Runner 2 boasts significant hardware upgrades over its predecessor. It features:
- Ultra-slim titanium alloy case for durability and lightweight design.
- 2nd Gen Kunlun Glass with peak brightness of 3,000 nits for outdoor visibility.
- 466 x 466 resolution display for sharp visuals.
- AirDry woven strap designed for 25% better breathability, weighing just 9 g.
- A second fluoroelastomer strap included in the box for added versatility.
The watch weighs 34.5 g and is 10.7 mm thick, making it comfortable for extended wear. Huawei claims the device offers 20% more accurate positioning than the original GT Runner, up to 32 hours of outdoor workouts with GPS enabled, 7 days of typical use, and 14 days of light use.
Advanced Health Features
While primarily a running-focused smartwatch, the Watch GT Runner 2 includes a robust suite of health-tracking features:
- ECG readings for heart health monitoring.
- HRV tracking to assess stress and recovery.
- Pulse wave arrhythmia analysis for detecting irregular heartbeats.
- Sleep breathing awareness to improve sleep quality.
- Blood oxygen tracking for overall wellness.
- High-altitude adaptation alerts for outdoor enthusiasts.
Huawei’s upgraded NPU and algorithms aim to deliver more accurate recovery insights and help users manage workout intensity effectively.
