Huawei unveils world’s first hybrid cooling energy storage system in Nigeria

Huawei’s Cruise Ni launched the Hybrid LUNA2000-215 Series in Lagos, citing Nigeria’s frequent grid collapse as the inspiration for the world’s first hybrid-cooled energy storage system.

The new solution, named Huawei LUNA2000-215, prioritises safety, efficiency, and profitability, while the Federal Fire Service endorsed Huawei’s quality.

The LUNA2000-215-2S10 serves Nigeria’s growing Commercial and Industrial (C&I) energy storage sector. Huawei states that the system provides thermal safety together with intelligent cooling capabilities and enhanced energy efficiency. The “Cell-to-Consumption” dual-link safety architecture stands as a primary element of the system alongside its fire suppression and rapid shutdown capabilities.

The ESS system from Huawei provides users with flexible installation capabilities and integrates digital tracking tools and revenue optimization functionality. The company reported a 99.999% availability rate for inverters while maintaining a more than 91.3% round-trip energy efficiency in their Huawei LUNA2000-215 series.

Additional speakers from partnering organizations participated in the launch event. Mr. Esan Oladimeji leads the ICT division at the Federal Fire Service Nigeria where he focuses on PV industry safety standards. The development of the photovoltaic industry depends fundamentally on safety measures. He stressed “Safety is the foundation of photovoltaic industry development. No safety means no business.” The PV industry must establish safety and quality as its main operational priorities.

The financing firm Rensource Energy introduced two funding solutions that included power purchase agreements with leasing options. The company instructs customers to select trustworthy brands which provide robust after-sales assistance like the ones offered by Huawei LUNA2000-215.

Powercell Limited explained how it works with Huawei equipment in 14 green shopping malls and supermarkets as a project partner. Powercell reports that the project delivered both more than 80% fuel savings and it is expected to yield a four-year return on investment.

The LUNA2000-215 series from Huawei functions to enhance business energy management through efficient and dependable solutions which advance sustainability targets in Nigeria.

Mr Esan Oladimeji, Head of ICT at the Federal Fire Service, confirmed the safety and quality of Huawei’s equipment. He emphasised that proper outdoor installations and reliable products help prevent risks. This is particularly true with products like the Huawei LUNA2000-215.

“Safety drives the solar industry’s future,” Mr Oladimeji said. “Without safety, there’s no business. We urge the industry to choose safe, high-quality solar solutions.”
