The breaking news is that ChatGPT search just launched last week and it has been said to deliver far richer results than Google. With this recent innovation, you may want to replace Google with ChatGPT search as your default browser.

Right before we get started, please note that only ChatGPT Plus Subscribers have access at the time of writing. This means that it is not available for the free accounts.

Replacing Google With ChatGPT Search in Chrome

With OpenAI, it has become even more easier to replace Google. This is because, it has released a browser extension that helps you do that. But first, you will have to install the browser extension.

On the other hand, you may not fully ready to fully replace Google as your default search engine. However, you can still make searching with ChatGPT easier by adding it to your Chrome’s site search shortcuts. This way, you can search with ChatGPT directly from the browser without going to the site first.

To do this, follow these steps;

  1. Open your Chrome Settings
  2. From the left hand menu, select Search Engine
  3. Right under the Site Search, Click on Add
  4. Add ‘ChatGPT’
  5. Make sure to change the shortcut to “@chatgpt”
  6. Finally, change the URL to “https://chatgpt.com” and then you can click Add

After you have done this, you can make your type your research words into the Chrome address bar, and it will run the search using ChatGPT.
