Honor Power 2 launches as affordable IP69K-certified smartphone and proudly resembles Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro

Recent hands-on images show just how closely the Honor Power 2 resembles the iPhone 17 Pro. The images were taken at the launch of the 10,000 mAh battery monster in China, which, apart from a few other highlights such as IP69K certification, is clearly positioned in the mid-range and already available in China for the equivalent of $386.

There is one thing that you must give Honor credit: audacity pays off, as few other smartphones in the mid-range category of the Chinese market received as much coverage in the social media and global news outlets since the break even at Christmas as the Honor Power 2, which resembles the iPhone 17 Pro to a large extent and was officially announced in China only on 5th January 2026. The camera module on the back of the orange colour version specifically resembles the one on the Apple flag-ship, with the hands-on shots comparing the two devices that are otherwise strikingly different proving this fact. The two models only differ in the dual-tone appearance of the iPhone, a more plastic camera body that has the Power branding, different shapes of lens and sensor/LED placement, and the Apple brand name and Honor text.

Mid-range specifications and a huge 10, 080 mAh battery.

Honor is not able to match Apple in the specs, except the battery. The ultra-thin 8 mm smartphone has a 10,080 mAh battery module with MediaTek new Dimensity 8500 Elite midrange chipset that is reported to last 8.3 hours of continuous live streaming, 32.5 hours of binge-watching or 17.3 hours of navigation. It is also purported to work well in very low temperatures. The 27-watt reverse charging capability also makes the smartphone a power bank, and the huge battery can be replenished at a rate of up to 80 watts.

Honor Power 2 is remarkably well-protected as far as a mid-range phone is concerned. It has an IP69K rating in addition to the IP68 and IP69 degree, which is expected to withstand high water pressure. Thus, Honor also promotes the Power 2 smartphone as an outdoor phone but it has little to do with the traditional models of rough smartphones and their generally huge appearance. The almost bezel-free design has a 6.79-inch 120 Hz AMOLED display with an HDR peak of 8,000 nits and a 2,640 x 1,200 resolution.

Cameras in China prices and camera specifications.

The Honor Power 2 is not likely to impress those who appreciate the quality of a good camera. Even though it contains a 50 MP F/1.88 primary camera with 10x digital zoom capabilities and 4K video, it has a 5 MP ultra-wide angle camera. The third back shooter is not even specified by the specs so it is hardly more than a macro sensor. It has a 16 MP selfie camera with aperture of F/2.45. The supported LTE/5G bands are not listed on the product page by Honor and the USB port also lacks the 5G/LTE speed. The Honor Power 2 with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage costs 2,700 yuan (386 dollars) in China and costs 3,000 yuan (429 dollars) in China. The battery monster will be pre-ordered in China and will be freely distributed as of January 9.
