Google is rolling out exciting new features for Fitbit’s personal health coach, an app-based tool designed to enhance wellness tracking. Initially launched in late 2025 as a Public Preview for Fitbit Premium users in the U.S., this functionality is now receiving significant updates to improve its accuracy and usability.
Enhanced Sleep Tracking
One of the key upgrades is improved sleep tracking. Google announced that sleep staging accuracy has been boosted by 15%, allowing Fitbit devices to better detect when users are awake, asleep, or taking naps. The system can also identify sleep disturbances more precisely. This data contributes to a Sleep Score, accompanied by personalized recommendations to help users improve their rest. These enhancements will roll out to U.S. Public Preview users in the coming weeks.
Conversational AI for Virtual Health Consultations
Google is also launching a new research study called “Get Care Now” through Fitbit Labs. Partnering with Included Health, the study aims to explore how conversational AI can enhance virtual health consultations. This initiative could pave the way for more accessible and efficient healthcare solutions.
Blood Sugar Insights via Continuous Glucose Monitoring
Another upcoming feature is the ability to connect a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to the Fitbit app via Health Connect. This integration will provide users with valuable blood sugar-related insights. The CGM tool is set to launch in Public Preview in the U.S. in April 2026.
Linking Medical Records to Fitbit
Starting in April 2026, U.S. Public Preview users will also be able to securely link their medical records to the Fitbit app. Google is partnering with services like b.well and CLEAR to ensure data security, requiring selfie and ID verification for access.
Global Expansion and Future Updates
In February 2026, Fitbit’s personal health coach expanded to Premium users in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. However, it remains unclear when these latest updates will be available globally.
With these upgrades, Google is positioning Fitbit as a more comprehensive health and wellness tool, combining advanced tracking, AI-driven insights, and secure medical record integration.
