Samsung is expected to follow up the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in 2026. According to the latest rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 foldable is said to bring a whole host of improvements, including a bigger battery than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and a display without any crease.

In July, we had reported that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has the ability to use an ASP laser-drilled metal plate to remove a display crease. One of the largest challenges that have bedeviled the foldable smartphones since then is the visible display crease. Although Samsung and other smartphone OEMs have managed to achieve the reduction of the size and the display crease, it remains very prominent.
Therefore, assuming that Samsung manages to eliminate the crease on the display in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 of the next year, it will be a significant plus, and, perhaps, a massive selling point. Deal Site, a Korean outlet, has now validated, according to industry sources, the fact that Samsung is in fact using a laser-drilled metal plate to fix the display crease problem. Interestingly, the foldable iPhone is also likely to use the solution.
Besides the display crease removal, Deal Site also states that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is supposed to receive a 5,000 + mAh battery. It will be a significant win compared to Galaxy Z Fold 7 (available on Amazon) because the foldable Samsung is currently using is based on a 4,400 mAh cell.
Although, other than the display crease reduction, the most interesting part of Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the so-called re-release of S Pen. According to Deal Site, inclusion of the S Pen in Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also expected to be high. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 does not include the S Pen functionality which Samsung could have omitted to achieve a thinner display.
Finally, Deal Site suggests that Samsung is aware of Apple’s decision to release a foldable iPhone in 2027. So, the company is reportedly “likely to make further improvements” to the Galaxy Fold 8 to compete favorably with the launch of the 2027 iPhone Fold.
