The upcoming foldable iPhone of Apple Inc. will come with iOS operating system updates that allow iPad-like layouts and concurrent apps, the first to be combined in the device, making it more multitasking friendly.
The product – the first of its kind to enter the category, as Apple knows, the interior will have a foldable display about the size of the ipad mini. It will also have an external display that is roughly the size as the one on a small iPhone.
The interior screen will incorporate wide aspect ratio, unlike the narrower form of foldable phones that are available in the market. The people, who would not like to be identified since the project is a secret, should include that as one of the main selling points.
Apple is being pressurized to demonstrate how it can revive this format. The introduction of the foldable iPhone in the fall will mark seven years after the introduction of the first model by chief competitor Samsung Electronics Co.
The Apple design is aimed at making the device more attractive in watching video, the people said. The developers should also find it easier to restructure their iPhone software to be more like iPad software.

Apple is also working on new layouts of iOS apps and redesigning its most classic programs on the iPhone to include sidebars on the left side of the screen, like most of its iPad applications. The software in iPhone will also be compatible with the new interface, which will employ the proportions of an iPad in landscape mode.
Although featuring an iPad-like app experience, the foldable iPhone will operate the normal iOS, as opposed to iPadOS, the tablet operating system of the company. This implies that it will have a less complicated system of multitasking, as opposed to the more desktop-like interface of iPadOS 26. Neither will it be compatible with existing iPad applications.
It will be capable of displaying two applications simultaneously, whereas the foldable iPhone will not operate multiple windows simultaneously as an iPad mini. That is similar to a major characteristic of foldable phones sold by Samsung, Google, and other divisions of the Alphabet Inc.
As Apple developed, the two biggest weaknesses of existing foldable phones, according to the company, were the small internal screens and the crease which can be visible when the phone is open. However, these issues have not been easy to fix and it is one of the reasons Apple is joining the category so late than its competitors.
