Google promised to deliver the option to download and install its suite of apps quickly in Windows momentarily. The new Google Essentials app is also set to be included on future HP computers and will allow users to effectively work with many Google apps and services from within one application.
With Google Essentials, one can finally download their favorite Google tools in one single package.
Initially, the app is going to be launched with the new generation of HP laptops that are yet to hit the shelves. When you boot up your new machine for the first time, you will get the chance to download Google’s must-have applications. That means no more wandering through numerous screen menus, or searching the web for links to download this or that. It’s all there, or, as trillions of neurons sleep and wait, its prologue.

After your PC is running, Google Essentials will be just one more icon on the Start menu all set for use. Adding to that, Google is providing users incentives to kick things into greater gear for qualified users. Even so, the Google One is currently giving out a two months’ trial on the Google One AI 100 GB subscription plan. It’s a lot of cloud storage to muck around with, and those always compelling AI extras are thrown in there too.
On the bright side, at least you can uninstall these services together with the Essentials app at any time if you wish to do so.
Although Google hasn’t listed exactly which apps and services will be available via the Google Essentials app, the cover image on Google’s blog page includes the following: Google Messages, Play Store, Sheets, Photos, Docs, Quick Share, Drive, Google One, Google Play Games.
Initially, the voice companion app will be available only on selected notebooks from HP’s portfolio, namely Spectre, Envy, Pavilion, OMEN, and Victus. Further, the Pipeline: Google announced it is going to introduce the Essentials application on even more Windows PC brands.
This step taken by Google is not just a strategic tweak in an ongoing convenience war. It’s a direct strike at Microsoft’s home ground, giving the users of Windows a glimpse of Google’s environment while they are still on the PC. While this could potentially reignite the ongoing battle between the tech titans the future holds is unclear.
For now, the update is something that can be expected from a Google-friendly future on Windows machines that use HP. It would be interesting to know what fate awaits the rest of society with regards to affordability of their products? We shall be following this space with a lot of interest.
