YouTube introduces a game-changing feature for creators and viewers alike—the ‘For You’ section. This innovative addition to creators’ channel home tabs aims to elevate viewer engagement by offering personalized video recommendations based on their unique watch history.

Understanding the ‘For You’ Section:

The ‘For You’ section is designed to provide visitors with a tailored experience on a creator’s channel. By curating a mix of videos aligned with individual viewing preferences, this feature enhances content discovery and engagement.

How Creators Can Customize the ‘For You’ Section:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. Navigate to the “Customization” section in the left menu and click on “Layout.”
  3. Scroll down to “Recommendations for your viewers” and click on “More settings.”
  4. In the settings, creators can choose specific content types to display and decide whether to showcase only recent content from the past 12 months.
  5. After making selections, click “Done” and then “Publish.”

Full Control for Creators:

Creators have full control over the ‘For You’ feature and can easily toggle it on or off in their channel settings. Additional customization options are available in the “more settings” of the “Recommendations for your viewers” section. Creators can choose to display shorts, livestreams, full videos, or a combination of two. They can also decide to include all content or only showcase the most recent material.

The rollout of the ‘For You’ section is set to begin on November 20, 2023. Creators are encouraged to review and adjust their settings before this date to make the most of this exciting new feature. By leveraging the ‘For You’ section, creators can optimize viewer engagement and simplify the content discovery process for their audience.
