In January, Xiaomi will begin distributing the stable MIUI 14 upgrade, which is based on Android 13. The company has already begun spreading early software development builds to various devices. The MIUI 14 development version was just released in China for the Mi 11 and Redmi Note 11T Pro series, and now the Xiaomi Pad 5 and Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 are receiving the same treatment.
The Xiaomi Pad 5 with firmware version V188.8.131.52.20.DEV and the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 with firmware version V184.108.40.206.21.DEV are both receiving the update. The Android 13-based MIUI development version includes a variety of optimizations and enhancements. The manufacturer says that since the core architecture of tablets differs significantly from that of smartphones, modifications will be necessary for them to fully adopt the MIUI 14.
Users of the aforementioned smartphones will be able to test the most recent MIUI version with this pre-release version. However, this version can have a number of faults and problems that could interfere with one’s normal usage. In China, the upgrade is currently being made available to a restricted group of enthusiasts who signed up for it.
The release of MIUI 14 has not yet been made public worldwide. Xiaomi hasn’t yet provided a release date, but we anticipate the software to hit the global market in the first half of 2023.
Remember that the MIUI 14 is said to be the lightest version of the MIUI to date and has a simplified design. The photon engine and enhanced system architecture are said to speed up the loading of third-party programs. Several cosmetic modifications are also part of the firmware. For instance, it adds additional customizable widget options in a range of sizes and shapes, as well as huge, eye-catching folder icons.
