Xiaomi’s Redmi Note series is the company’s most popular smartphone range across the globe. With this product selection, the corporation is notable for introducing the general public to some of the high-end features. The Redmi Note 7 Pro, for example, was the first inexpensive smartphone to include a 48MP camera. This device, along with the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Go, has reached the end of its life cycle.

According to Xiaomiui, software support for three of Xiaomi’s most popular phones will be discontinued in 2019. The Redmi Note 7 (also known as the Redmi Note 7S), the Redmi Note 7 Pro, and the Redmi Go are the handsets in question. They are now officially three years old.

MIUI 10 was debuted alongside the Redmi Note 7 range, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. The phones have gotten two MIUI updates (MIUI 11 and MIUI 12) and a single Android update during their existence (Android 10). They’re running MIUI 12.5 right now.

The Redmi Go, on the other hand, arrived with MIUI 10, which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition. The entry-level smartphone is still running on the same software three years later. Throughout its life, it only got security fixes.

Despite the fact that Xiaomi does not give Android 11 for the Redmi Note 7 series, users can install custom ROMs to get not only Android 11 but also Android 12. In the third-party development community, the two phones are still popular. A number of modified ROMs based on Android 10 and Android 11 are also available for the Redmi Go.

Third-party software, in any case, is not for everyone. If you’re one of those niche audiences, you should absolutely give it a shot to give your old out-of-support phones a new lease on life.
