On Twitter, users discussed the importance of editing posts so frequently that it spawned a slew of memes. However, the ability to change previously published content will be available only in the coming months, according to information posted on the company’s official website.
The main idea is that users can correct errors in messages without having to delete them and the comments that have already been left. In the coming months, the social network intends to test the feature with followers of the Twitter Blue version.

According to Twitter Vice President Jay Sullivan, the ability to edit posts has been a long-awaited feature for years, but without time limits, control, and transparency, abuse was possible, distorting the meaning of public discussions. “Our top priority as we approach this work is to protect the integrity of public debates,” Sullivan said.
Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey was opposed to the feature, believing it would allow changes to the content of posts to be made retroactively, and stated in 2020 that Twitter “may never” add the feature. Simultaneously, users pointed out that many other platforms, including Facebook * and Instagram, already allow users to edit posts, and this does not result in widespread abuse. However, some social media platforms admitted that abuse did occur.
After Parag Agrawal took over as CEO of Twitter, the company’s position shifted. On April 1, a tweet about the work on the “Edit” button appeared in the official social network account, but the message was not taken seriously at the time. A few days later, newly minted Twitter shareholder Elon Musk launched a poll on the social network to determine whether the service required a corresponding button, with more than 70% of those polled voting “yes.”

The company already has a function that allows you to “revoke” a tweet before it is sent, but it is only available to Twitter Blue subscribers.
Elon Musk was known to have purchased Twitter shares on a regular basis from late January to early April, spending a total of $ 2.64 billion on this. That’s more than 9% of all Twitter shares.
According to CNBC, citing Form 13D, Musk owns 73,115,038 Twitter shares. By March 14, the billionaire had surpassed the 5% mark. As of yesterday evening, the current value of Elon Musk’s shares was $ 3.73 billion. As you may know, Elon Musk’s money and efforts secured him a seat on Twitter’s board of directors, but not the right to own more than 14.9 percent of the company’s stock.
