The first beta of Nothing OS 1.5, which is based on Android 13, was released to the Nothing Phone (1) about a month ago. The second Android 13 beta build is being sent by the business to Nothing Phone (1) units taking part in the beta testing today. According to Nothing CEO Carl Pei, this is supposedly four days ahead of plan.
New minimalist wallpapers, redesigned lock screen shortcut buttons, a new “handcrafted glyph ringtone and notification soundpack of a slightly different style,” a better Quick Settings panel for networking that makes it easier to switch between data usage when using dual SIMs, smoother screen-on/screen-off animations, an improved auto-brightness algorithm, improved Camera app UI and animations, and longer battery life are all included in the new build.
Although they are not specifically listed, issues should have been extensively corrected, and system stability should have improved as well. Now that Nothing X is fully integrated into the OS, the pop-up view is finally back with “some interaction improvements.”
The updated release is available as a 127MB download over-the-air. When Nothing OS 1.5 will be released in its final, stable form to all devices is currently unknown. If there is going to be another beta, it should be released around the middle of February given that there has only been one beta update so far per month. Absolutely nothing seemed to be taking its time here.
