In a major development aimed at enhancing the user experience for businesses on WhatsApp, Meta, the parent company of the popular messaging app, has unveiled a host of new features. These announcements were made by none other than Mark Zuckerberg, the Founder and CEO of Meta, during a global Conversations event held in Mumbai.
The most noteworthy addition to WhatsApp’s arsenal is “Flows.” This feature is poised to revolutionize in-app shopping by allowing users to seamlessly shop without ever leaving the chat window. With Flows, businesses can provide an array of services directly within the chat interface. For instance, users can effortlessly select a train seat, place a meal order, or schedule an appointment, all while continuing their conversation within the chat. Moreover, businesses will have the flexibility to offer rich menus and customizable forms to cater to different customer needs.
But that’s not all; Meta is also streamlining the payment process within WhatsApp chats. In India, users can now easily add items to their cart and make payments through various methods, including UPI apps, debit/credit cards, and more. To make in-app shopping a breeze for Indian users, WhatsApp has partnered with industry leaders Razorpay and PayU.
Meta’s commitment to ensuring a safe and trustworthy environment for users is reflected in the introduction of “Meta Verified.” This verification badge is designed to assure users that they are interacting with legitimate businesses. Verified businesses will receive a special badge, enjoy enhanced account support, and gain protection against impersonation attempts. Furthermore, they will have access to premium features, including the creation of a customized WhatsApp page that is easily discoverable through web searches and multi-device support for their employees.
The eagerly awaited Flows feature is set to roll out to businesses worldwide that use the WhatsApp Business Platform in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the testing phase for Meta Verified will soon commence, with small businesses using the WhatsApp Business app as the initial beneficiaries.
These exciting additions to WhatsApp’s repertoire are poised to redefine the way businesses and users interact on the platform, ushering in a new era of convenience, security, and engagement. Stay tuned for further updates on these groundbreaking features from Meta!
