Apple is preparing to release the iPhone 14 series handsets later this year, and as the launch date approaches, more information about the company’s next gadgets continues to surface online.
Now, details concerning the Apple iPhone 14 series models’ front-facing cameras have leaked online, with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealing what enhancements will be made to the smartphones’ front cameras.
According to the new claim, the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max would all include an updated front-facing camera sensor with f/1.9 aperture and autofocus capabilities.
In comparison, the current-generation Apple iPhone 13 series includes a front-facing camera sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and fixed focus on all models.
Smartphones with a larger aperture will be able to capture more light. The camera enhancements are also expected to improve the depth-of-field effect for Portrait Mode photographs and movies. The front camera’s autofocus capabilities, on the other hand, will improve focus during FaceTime chats or video calls made with third-party apps.
The Apple iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max are also expected to have an updated back camera arrangement, with the primary sensor likely being a 48-megapixel wide lens with support for 8K video recording. According to the previously released renders, this will result in a bigger camera bump for smartphones.
If rumors are to be believed, the gap between the Pro and non-Pro versions will be significant this year. The A16 Bionic chip, which is rumored to be a slightly upgraded version of the A15 Bionic, is slated to power the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro, while the Apple A16 Pro processor will power the Pro models.
